Omg this is seriously driving me nuts, Ive been seeing these screenshots with people that have vista-like looking windows, example here

StyleXP, I have it on my sister's comp. Kinda looks like vista, but it's XP

screw StyleXP; just get your uxtheme.dll file patched

I have had no problems what so ever with my uxtheme.dll file.

 

To change icons, go hunt for "icon packager." Get the evaluation/demo or whatever and you'll know what to do from there.

ooh nifty, i get how to use the patcher but where do i get themes? do i just use StyleXP themes or something? some site they posted there seems to just go around in circles.

Yeah, patching uxtheme.dll is meant for ordinary style xp themes to be used. Btw, I recommend not looking anywhere else for themes than deviantART.

 

I myself prefer themes where all of the frames and everything look really small. I don't like the normal xp "bulky" look.
