Shibathedog Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I have a Vivitar 3730 Digital camera and i think the CCD is dead, does anyone know where i can buy a replacement CCD? I opened it up and its fairly easy to replace, i just need the part.
ken_cinder Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Given that the CCD is probably one of (if not THE) most expensive components in a camera, I'd say just buy a new one.I didn't know CCDs were still used, I thought pretty much everything had gone APS using CMOS sensor these days. You'll also be hard pressed to find a replacement part like that unless you contact Vivitar themselves. It isn't deemed a "user serviceable part".
Shibathedog Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 well it pretty much clips in and out and to tell you the truth i dont even know if its a CCD, its the thing behind the lens lol i know absolutley nothing about this camera besides the fact that it doesnt work right anymore but yeah you can get digital cameras for pretty cheap now so ill probably just buy a new one
ken_cinder Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 The CCD collects luminance "data" which forms your picture. If it's sitting directly behind the lens, kinda looks like a chip with a filament on it that resembles a solar pad.......it's a CCD.
Shibathedog Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 yep its a CCD alright then Looks kind of like those DLP Chips but smaller
