Prican25
source from xboxhacker.net TheSpecialist has done it and made a video as proof. Months of hard work have come to an end. The 360 FW security details were posted a few days ago already, so why not make it official It's been done. Respect to all the people on this board who made it possible with their brilliant contributions: Anita999, Geremia, Nayr, Bluecop, Interestedhacker, MacDennis, Phantasm, Marvin, Tiros, SpenzerX, Team Modfreakz, Fuzzylogic, Takires, loser, jasper, SMO, Groepaz, Zobyone, Jumba, Amadeus, Tser, DjHuevo, oz_paulb, DaveX, darkfly, evestu, Robinsod, Dark_Neo, Gael360, Seventhson, probutus. Just for fun, here's a little video: http://rapidshare.de/files/15810304/360hack.mpg.html. And no, the team decided not to release a hacked FW. The security details are proof itself. The team advocates hacking, not piracy.
iq_132
I understand them keeping this firmware hack under wraps, but not the hack for the xbox 1. There are already 100 different mods for that.*conspiracy theory on* maybe these guys are being paid not to release this info by modchip makers ^^*conspiracy theory off*
VinceJ
Most likely. Imagine the homebrew!
iq_132
Most likely. Imagine the homebrew! I don't think this hack allows homebrew. Only signed code (backups/warez)
Wizard
Most likely. Imagine the homebrew!<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think this hack allows homebrew. Only signed code (backups/warez)<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Correct, the hack doesn't allow homebrew at all. It only works with 1:1 (as close as it can get) copies of games. flowrent
This is a slap on MS for a job not well done. For more than 15 years games have been pirated.I wonder what it would be like without piracy.People, when given a choice they will use pirated games, especially if they don't have a lot of money. But even those who do,they choose the bad side.I wish the current generation systems can't be modded until their lifespan is over.People can do lots of better things than playing pirated games, sitting all day and downloading games is totally lame.Go out,do some other stuff and you may find it's more interesting.I totally agree with the team's decision not to release their firmware. Agozer
Modchips and piracy are the only way to play some games that never make it to Europe. There's a huge amount of frustration among european gamers because most of the games only get a JP and US launch but never an EU launch. When we actually do get a release, it's usually almost a year or nearly two years after the initial release. Importing isn't an option for many gamers because of the possible incompatibilities between the PAL and NTSC signal (a distorted as flock black & white image at worst), and importers are usually forced to buy a US console if they don't mod their existing PAL system. Also, ordering a mod-chip online is a problem for some. No, I don't advocate piracy either, but I can understand the frustration.
Wizard
Regardless, they've decided to be good sports and not release this hack. That doesn't mean another group will come along with all intention to break it and post it (or until hardware mods come out). Did I mention this requires games to be 1:1-as-close-as-you-can-get copies?
