Daeval Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I don't get it really. In other news... Maybe this is old news, but I think I found a trick to the lockpicking system: Close your eyes. I'm serious, there's an audio cue that is MUCH more accurate than the visuals. When you hit the tumbler, there is a "plink," but when you get it into the right position there's a subtlely different "ka-plink" sound. You still have to time the click right, but it's a lot easier when you know what to listen for. As an added bonus, it feels really zen when you can close your eyes and pick a Hard ranked lock at a 15 security without breaking a pick.
Wizard Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Yeah, the audio cue is much more easier to tell when to crack locks. Now do it to a very hard one. Satisfaction is totally zen!
Gryph Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 It is a better method but I havne't gotten it down perfectly yet. I must practice more. I want to get the Skeleton lockpick which is an unbreakable pick and it adds 40 (or something like that, not sure exactly) to your security. You can get it by completing the Nocturnal Shrine quest which is north of Leyawin. You have to be level 10 though. I'm only level 6 so I still have a ways to get it.
someboddy Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Just finished the main quest. It was awsome!!!! Now I'm going to try heavy armor and blunt character... Or maybe a mage type...
Gryph Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I haven't really started the main quest yet. I went to see the head of the guard but I never went to Kvatch.
someboddy Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I just wanted to finish it up, so I won't feel bad when I'm making a new character. Have you received all the mages guild recommendations yet?
ken_cinder Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Bite my @$$ Bethesda! Take this on my unsupported hardware! Err it appears MIMETYPE is broken on the server, thats a picture........not text! Changed to Imageshack hosted image.

Have you received all the mages guild recommendations yet?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Tidius and a bit ch, thats what they are. It didn't make me feel powerful at all, since I already had the spell that owns everything.
Daeval Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I'm waiting on the main quest until I get my new hardware on Tuesday. I'm having a blast doing random dungeon crawls though. Conjuration + Alchemy + Light Armor + Blunt = More fun than it sounds.
Dooz Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I haven't even started the main quest yet, and I'm already more than half-way through the Dark Brotherhood's quests.
Wizard Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 New hardware on sunday WEEEE! Right now, I've completeled all the Theive's Guild quests and workin on the not-so evil, but are just assassins Brotherhood.
Daeval Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I'm finding Oblivion has the same bug that kept me from beating Morrowind - I get a few hours in and just can't continue. I have to make a new character every time, just to see what it's like playing something totally different. Most recently it's a Nord combat type with blade, bow and heavy armor. I've sworn off chest armor just to keep him barbaric. He's working pretty good so far. I'm hoping I can shake this disease long enough to play through the main quest eventually.
Wizard Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 When all comes to all, you'd have to cheat to complete a quest (Which sucks, because I was hoping I wouldn't have too). With one of the Recommendation quests, I couldn't even start it, so I had to use one of the console commands to get passed it.

But I hear it happens in other places too, such as Bavil.
