just a question

I have Nvidia GeForce 5200 Fx,and it has 8x AGP,but when I see the prob. in the the windows, I find it only 2x AGP,and my question is :

what this AGP refer to,and how to make it 8x if that can be done.

It refers to how fast the AGP bus transfers data. Your graphics card is inserted into the AGP (Accelerated/Advanced Graphics Port) slot on your motherboard.

 

AGP 1x: Max. 266 MB/s

AGP 2x: Max. 533 MB/s

AGP 4x: Max. 1066 MB/s (1 GB/s)

AGP 8x: Max. 2133 MB/s (2 GB/s)

 

You should check your BIOS settings and make sure that AGP speed is set to 8x.

I'd suggest upgrading to a PCI-E card. MUCH faster. Also, you can now get 16x cards.

if you only have a 2x AGP then you will only get 2x speeds, the max it supports is 8x....and you should upgrade to an SLI mobo

sometimes theres even a setting in the little ATi control panel or GeForce control panel to adjust it

 

your using a GeForce card so obviously look for that, if you didnt install it do that

Check in your display settings to check if it's running in 8x mode, or check in the bios (most likely problem) and set up the AGP Speed to 8x.
