Wizard Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Ok, got a new SATA drive installed. Afterwards, computer starts rebooting randomly. 9800 Pro fo shizzleAthlon 64 3200+ oc'd a bit4 HDDs1 Optical Drive 350 Watt PSU New Powersupply right?
Alpha Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Yes, I would say so. 4 HDD's need a lot more power than a 350 Watt PSU.
ken_cinder Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Here here, I have a 400w PSU......on my like 6 year old P4. 350w isn't enough for all those drives and a video card that consumes extra power of it's own.Your CPU on an average load NOT overclocked eats 85+ watts of it's own. I'd advise you to upgrade to a 500w PSU.
Shibathedog Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 and if your like me, whenever you buy a new PSU, you use it as an excuse for a new badass case (Case/PSU combos are pretttttyy cheap nowadays)
Wizard Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Found my way around it. The surges stopped when I reverted my 3200 too stock. Problem solved.
Madman Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 if you oc the cpu it sonsumes more power as well. So a new psu could help anyway
Shibathedog Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 i forgot to say this in another topic you posted in, so ill say it now, Nice avatar Madman I would at least have a 400 watt PSU, you might have problems with alot of USB stuff plugged in too
