Mooney
I know for sure that I am getting an ATI Radeon X1600 PRO 512MB PCI E, but I'm not sure where to get it. When I searched on eBay, I saw Asus and Sapphire versions of the card. Are there any advantages/disadvantages to getting one of these cards, rather than straight from ATI? Weirdy
I've never thought that 3rd party cards mattered as long as they had the features intended to be on the card in the first place.
Agozer
Cards from both manufacturers are good. Like Weirdy said, it doesn't really matter as long as the manufacturer hasn't made any significant changes.
ken_cinder
There's quality of PCB design and other hardware to take into account too. While they may run ATi GPUs, 3rd party cards can utilize any number of different parts for other components on the board.I've studied heavily that exact card though, and I can tell you the build quality on it is probably as high as an ATi retail if not higher. Mooney
So, for example, will an Asus or Sapphire card work with a DFI mobo that has an ATI Crossfire chipset?
