Shibathedog
I need more storage for stuff, and im considering this one, cheap, pretty big, has a bigger cache, looks fine to me http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822144309 Is there something im not seeing? It seems too cheap or something. Maybe one of these would be better? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148139 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148143 I probably only need 250GB, but if its only that much more money i might as well get the bigger one, Plus the bigger one has perpendicular recording, which i guess is better, i heard in some cases its better and in some it causes problems
Mooney
Looks good to me... good rpm's. Unless your mobo can handle a better configuration, I'd say go for it!
Shibathedog
this mobo is only ATA100 sadly doesnt really matter to me though, im mainly just going to be using it to store stuff, no serious reading/writing thanks though
ken_cinder
Go with the WD, you won't really find a better price (Thats about the norm on Ebay too).Stay AWAY from the perpendicular technology until it's proven itself, it's very much still in it's infancy.Seagate drives are pretty good, nothing to snub your nose at, but WD is the better choice. The only thing worthy of spending the extra coin on between the 2, is that the Seagate drive has 16mb of cache versus the WDs 8.......and trust me, you won't notice it if you bought the 2 of em and benchmarked em against eachother, especially if your main use is storage. That cache is quite nice if you're a video editor, doesn't even help you any if you're archiving alot either (Your CPU and RAM are the big factors in speed there)
