JKKDARK
64% of Online Gamers Are Female You wouldn't realize it while playing with most of the jerks that play Halo 2, but 64% of the nation's 117 million online gamers are actually women, according to Nielsen Entertainment's third annual Active Gamer Benchmark Study, released this morning. The study's announcement release doesn't break down what games they're playing, though we expect sites like pogo.com, which feature a multitude of Flash-based, more simplistic games, are rather high on the list. Even more surprising is how many older gamers are playing. While the teenage market dominates in numbers, the study says more than 15 million gamers, about 8%, are actually at least 45 years old. Americans have luck, they have a lot of girls gamers. I wonder if there are girls in this forum..
Diso
My guess is that the majority of them play MMORPGS rather than the standard FPS. In the FPS world, There aren't that many (Or I don't look that hard for them)
Rag
64% are most likely men who choose female characters. Only maybe 10% are actual women
garyoak99
64% are most likely men who choose female characters. Only maybe 10% are actual women So you are saying the study is flawed because the researchers didn't even check the players' actual genders and they just took the characters' genders as fact? Smilee
It didn't state it was a census as apparently they conducted the study with 2,200 "active" gamers. Also how did they conduct the study? By player response or by survey? Extraneous factors have been stated that the study does not specify which games they have looked on, they should have categorized certain game categories and survey those gamers within that game type. All of this is kind of hard to believe as plenty of extraneous factors are apparent.

That or the men who chose the women characters played the MMO so much that they are convinced that they are women and filled that out anyway 64% are most likely men who choose female characters. Only maybe 10% are actual women What about the women who choose male as their gender I guess you never know who you are playing with
