No; your speed is usually set by your ISP.

 

There is a way to speed up firefox (old trick)

 

go to "about:config"

 

set "network.dns.disableIPv6" to true

 

set "network.http.pipelining" to true

 

set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to true

 

and set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to a number that's good for your bandwidth (mine is set to 30)

You could try using the TCPOptimizer. Try running a speed test before and after you use it if you choose to.
