ken_cinder
Can anyone recommend me a good, stable power supply in the 400-500w range that won't cost me an arm and a leg?Don't say Enermax, cause every PSU they sell is retardedly overpriced from what I've seen. I don't give a rats ass if all the rails are adjustable and theres neon lights in my damn PSU, I just want stability.
Mooney
Since you didn't mention your case type, I'll just assume it's an ATX. If you want SUPER cheap:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817159043 Mid range:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817148008http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817171007 Too bad I haven't had too much experience buying PSU's as my case came with a nice 450 watt PSU that works just fine for me. Shibathedog
I own that Apevia (Aspire) one, and i can tell you first hand its a very good PSU
ken_cinder
Top one is apparantly not truly 400w, and the other 2 have been given several terrible reviews. Don't do Newegg, but thanks for at least suggesting something. Right now I'm running less a hard drive and an optical drive. 2 PCI cards out and no AUX power (And as such my CPU fan is running off an IDE molex - fan adapter lol ) on a 250w PSU. Serves the purpose for now, and keeps me from being relegated to using my PIII 600.
Gryph
Antec and Thermaltake are two brands I trust. Here's a 420W silent one from Thermaltake for $40: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817153006 I learned my lesson by going with a cheap PSU once. Most unstable piece of crap ever. Shibathedog
yeah but the apeva was given bad reviews by some people for stupid reasons noise doesnt bother me and with that one theres even a knob on the back to turn down fan speed, its stable and reliable for me anyway (and a friend of mine has had that same one for a year or 2 and his still works, and he has some crazy super overclocked system, so for the people that say it doesnt last long i dont know what they are talking about or how they blew it)
ken_cinder
Picked myself up a 430w Cooler Master. All of the companies you guys recommended, have been severely slammed on every hardware site I go to, namely HardOCP's forums have a thread dedicated to just this and they're all on the "S**T" list. I've always liked Tt's stuff, but they apparantly don't even make their own PSU's, some cheap Chinese mfg does and they have bad reviews everywhere. Guess they should stick to cooling.
