mvc2 on chankast compared to arcade

Recommended Posts

Hello all. Firstly, I think it would be best if I explain my intentions. I play mvc2 in the arcade and I want to get better at it. However, due to my lack of consoles that can run mvc2, I think chankast is my best bet at practicing up. I've decided to upgrade my computer so that I can run chankast better...however before I dump money into my PC I would like to know if chankast can really give me what I want.

So here's my questions: If I did have a very good computer, can chankast run mvc2 at the same speed as in the arcade (or at least near arcade speed)? If yes, can someone please tell me what minimum specs are required to reach to kind of performance? I've also read chankast can be overclocked to run games faster...will it be compulsory to do this in my case?

I also plan to buy an arcade stick and play that on chankast. I have no idea how i can set this up but I will think of that later.

Thanks for your time!

All I can say is, with my AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 512 MB RAM and an ATI radeon 9800 Pro, the game runs really well. There might be ocacsional slowdown though.

Also, MvC2 has crappy sound on Chankast, but not all the time. Also, you can overclock/underclock the Dreamcast CPU with +/-, but that doesn't always mean that the game will run better (it might, but you need to do some testing on your own).

It's a fact, the music played in mvc2 doesn't fit with any fighting game imo.

Too true :P

Thanks for the replies. I'm not too worried about music or the graphical glitches (the constant rocketing sound when assists like doom leaves the screen can be extremely annoying though :) ). But as long as I can practice to beat justin wong, i'm all good ;) (jkz).
