Shibathedog Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 I suspect one or more of my HDDs is failing, is CHKDISK a good enough tool to see if im right?
Renzor Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 is it an external one? or internal how many do you have
ken_cinder Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 SMART utilities are a good bet. CHKDSK won't tell you anything beyond dead clusters.
Shibathedog Posted December 26, 2006 Author Posted December 26, 2006 would speedfan be sufficient? i know it has SMART features but i havent really used them besides hitting go and saying hmm that cool and closing it and they are internal i think only 1 of the 3 is actually failing. But im not sure. Either way im getting a new SATA HDD soon, but i shouldnt bother keeping these drives if they are failing.
