I used like Mame 0.60. It's still fun to follow the insane progress of Mame, although I miss that WIP page they used to do on mame.net

I hate how the newer builds are so slow.

What do you mean by slow? They seem the same to me. (I assume you use a GUI and loading the roms are slow?)

Just loading the roms is slow.

 

But not so for hack versions of mame.

My first version was 0.21 then 0.36 then 0.55 then 0.61 then 0.77 then 0.87 then every version thereafter.

 

I have collected quite a lot of other builds since I started though.

I have dozens of Arcade emulators and various builds of each.

at the most I keep 5 or so of each type.

First was .5- something. Can't remember. Got it to play the arcade version of Mortal Kombat II with better graphics and the intro story.

My computer was so pathetic that I didn't really use MAME much.
