My computer was so pathetic that I didn't really use MAME much.

 

Same. I used to be under the impression that arcade emulation of anything relatively new wasn't possible at all. Then one day I tried FBA and was getting fullspeed CPS-2 consistently. This was before they had NeoGeo support. I was amazed. That's when I started collecting arcade roms seriously, despite my 56k connection. Kinda miss FBA.

My first MAME version was 0.34 or lower IIRC ...

MAME is still a pure command line application. MAME32 added GUI elements.

Which is why I use the Mame32 ones now.

Mine would be 0.3 back in the days use to get my roms of DC. Awww the momeries. If only I could go back in time.
