Voice chat in games -- a good thing?

i like the feature and it would be nice to see it in an mmo so you can talk to your guild, party or certain areas.... as long as there is a mute button for those annoying... people or little kids

Good thing. Why? Because God of War wouldn't have had as great an impact without the strong narration and voice-cast. Especially Kratos' voice.

I'd prefer a 3rd party program over built ins. (In Source games, my mic comes off a little fuzzy and loud, but in Teamspeak it's more balanced and less white-noise.

Since I only play fighting games online, I would like to voice chat. Announce a challenge, talk smack when i win, and give props to those who are good.
