It's a big meh from me. This would be have been acceptable back in the 16 bit era and answered the eternal question "who would win? Sonic or mario?" But still wtf. Assuming both mario and sonic will go head to head against each other, I think seeing that on Super smash bros Brawl would be more desirable .

Sonic can go Super Sonic. That's really enough right there. Mario has the invincibility stars, but Sonic has invincibility buffs, too, so that doesn't really matter.

The only thing Mario has over Sonic is the ability to fly (via the Tanooki suit). That's what he has Tails for, though -- to carry him as he flies.
