SF2MJ Posted July 19, 2007 Share Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) I recently formatted my pc because of a bad virus i got.Now all my "old word pad documents won't open.Only the new word pad documents i created after i re-installed xp pro. When i try to open an old word pad document i get a message saying "can not load word for windows 6.0" How can i correct this?. Robert Posted July 19, 2007 Share Posted July 19, 2007 According to Microsoft you do this: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. 2. Locate the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Wordpad 3. Right-click Wordpad, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. 4. Type EnableLegacyConverters, and then press ENTER to name the new entry. 5. Right-click EnableLegacyConverters, and then click Modify. 6.
