ken_cinder
Soundmax what? I have 7.1 HD from Soundmax and a simple Google search got me what I needed. If it's integrated, find out what chipset it is from your motherboard manufacturer. If it's not integrated, what is the card manufacturer? Soundmax doesn't make retail products, just chipsets. My chipset is the ADI1988

Reaper man
grab a *nix live CD (ubuntu works well) boot up the CD, when you get a desktop, load up the console, type in "lspci" (without quotes) and give us the results (there should be browsers on the live CD that'll enable you to do that, given your NIC (modem?) is supported, if not, save your results on your HD where it can be easily found and boot back into windows
