Ok this is a computer I bought a few months ago . . . worked excellent and no problems at all . . .

it just randomly reboots on me and sometimes I get the blue screen of death when all I'm doing is surfing websites!

if anyone knows what I should do to fix it I'd be very happy!

NVIDIA GeForce 8600+

Thanks in Advanced.

sounds like bad ram to me....

grab memtest86+ here, boot it up, and run it over night. If it comes back with errors, you probably have bad RAM. (and if not that, it might be a problem with your CPU or motherboard)

also, have you added or upgraded any hardware inside?

How about a BSOD error code?

Have you disabled "Automatically Restart" under My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Start Up and Recovery Settings?

What are your pagefile settings and how much free space is there on the drive the pagefile is on?

What kind of network adapter, and are the drivers up to date, or has this started happening since you updated them?

Pointing the finger at hardware is the LAST thing one should do.

Powersupply could be screwing with you too as well if it can't handle the load.

yeah I was thinking that too, that's why I asked if he upgraded/added anything

and to cinder, it sounds like a hardware issue to me, running memtest86 wouldn't hurt, and if it comes clean, then it rules out the CPU, mobo(for the most part), and memory...

then again, it is possible for it to be software related, so enh...

I had roughly the same problem, and it turned out to be bad drivers for my Motorola WU830G Wireless USB Adapter. In the end, I got a Buffalo Wireless PCI Adapter, and all was well.
