Power Supply advice

Recommended Posts

Up until now, my 450W PSU has served me well. However, it gives out when I try to connect another hard drive, so I know it won't be ready for Crossfire. So I have been shopping around with my limited knowledge of power supplies, basing most of my opinions off user reviews (dangerous, I know, but it's all I've got). I'd like at least 600W with plenty of SATA and peripheral connectors for under $100 (I can go over $100, but I would rather not atm). I have found two that I think will do the job, but I just want to make sure I don't end up buying a total piece of crap.

Any advice (trusted brands, trusted shops, a specific PSU) is welcome. THIS is my case, btw.

I've never heard of the company you put up links for.

I use Cooler Master PSU's, good value for good price. As far as I'm concerned, all these "high-end" power supplies are overkill, adjustable rails are good but as long as your tolerance is within a certain range you're fine. Paying $250 for a PSU is sheer stupidity.

I recommend this: http://www.coolermaster.com/products/produ...te=22&id=50

Or this: http://www.coolermaster.com/products/produ...=22&id=2551

Both will satisfy your power needs, but if you're definitely going Crossfire and are going to have more than 2 hard drives, I'd choose the second just to err on the side of caution.

Both of those links are blank for me...

although ive heard pretty good things about the Ultra brand, i still dont really trust them

Cooler Master is a good choice, its a good No-BS Brand, They give you everything you need without any extra crap. Very reliable too. The only thing that could made that model better is if it where modular, but if your good at stuffing cables away it doesn't really matter.

Oh and Newegg is selling it for only 85 Bucks after mail in rebate. Instant-Win!

If you REALLY want the modular though, This Enermax is great
