help required

I've got 2 problems:

 

1)I'm playing Pokemon: Fire Red on the VBA,version 1.7

 

WHen I try to save he game,it says: "SAVE ERROR. PLEASE EXCHANGE THE BACKUP MEMORY"

So I've been saving in the 'state'. What do I do to save normally?

 

2)I've just downloaded POkemon EMerald,Leaf Green and Sapphire. When I try to open any via VBA,it says

"Unsupported BIOS function bc called from 0800000. A BIOS file is needed in order to get correct behaviour."

I dont think it deals with my problem of opening Emerald/Sapphire.

Haldrie's thread offers general advice/help and that usually helps for most games, Emerald/Sapphire being no exception.
