The Gamespot-Gertsmann Scandal

Not sure if you guys have been following this but Jeff Gertsmann, Gamespot's editor-in-chief, was fired recently. Rumor is that it had to do with Eidos pressuring CNET executives to fire him because he rated Kane and Lynch a 6.0 and totally ripped it in the video review. For the past week or so Gamespot was pretty much a skinned Kane and Lynch advertisement. You can see a pic of it and read about it here: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50134

Or course, CNET denies such things: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50157

But it is rather odd that an editor-in-chief, who has been at Gamespot for over a decade, could be fired just like that. His review style has always been pretty consistent I think so to be fired for a review doesn't seem likely.

More rumor: An anonymous member wrote a long post at another website talking about his firing and how the separation between the marketing/ad department and editorial department broke down once Greg Kasavin (the previous editor-in-chief and boss at Gamespot) left.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually fired due to pressure from advertisers.

There has also been huge backlash against both Eidos and Gamespot.
