Gryph
I don't know, maybe go to the task manager and set the affinity for the game you're trying to run to just one core.
Wizard
There's been alot of issues with Quad Core, so Gryph's way should make it safe.
Shibathedog
I don't have any issues like that with mine and I don't do anything special, What happens when it crashes? any logs/error reports? If a game doesn't support quad core it means it wont use all 4 cores, not that it won't work at all. EDIT: Sounds like a stability/heat problem now that I think about it, how are you cooling it? bopian
the game crashed just like that, but i think it something to do with the ram, because i have been searching for solution and some forum have been suggesting that i remove some of my ram. and when i remove 2 gb (they come in 1gb pair), the games runs fine. so i think its the ram, but why cant windows xp support 4gb? i thought that winxp maximum ram amount is 4gb? i heard about the /pae switch but i still cant get it to work. Wizard
Did you put in your ram corretly? Like 1-3-2-4? 32-bit XP supports up to 4gb btw.
Tynvar
Maybe one of the modules is damaged. You need to download a ram tester and boot your pc with it. It takes a while but if any red damaged sectors show up that might be the problem. It usually is a ram issue when the computer freezes, restarts on it's own or crashes often. Shibathedog
Did this get solved? Just in case it didn't - MAKE SURE your RAM settings in your BIOS are correct, you will have to set the timings, something like 5-5-5-15 or whatever your RAM uses, it should say on the RAM, also check to make sure the voltage going to the RAM and the Speed (800MHz or whatever) is correct. Windows XP 32-bit only supports 3GB of RAM, not 4. Download a program called Memtest+ You can burn it to a CD and boot from it and it will test your memory, Run through Test 5 a good 5 times because thats usually where things fail, then run through the standard tests (meaning all of them) at least 3 times. Some people run it for like entire days but if its defective its going to fail pretty quick.
