Elazul Yagami
The EFF is taking aim at a Patent held by Nintendo for emulation of handheld devices, according to the EFF webpage, this patent "Threatens reverse engineering of videogames to promote interoperability and emulation by hobbyists and entrepreneurs like Crimson Fire Entertainment and Gambit Studios." What effect this attempt by EFF will lead to is unknown, but patents on emulators are a critical issue for the community. EFF webpage
MasterPhW
Mmmh?Okay, the critical date is May 27, 1999, so that means Nintendo already has this patent for more than 7 years, and they never did anything against the community, so what's all the tussle about? Elazul Yagami
the problem is, even though nintendo didn't take action, this patent means other companies can file these patents AND take action.if it's not busted, then it can be repeated and abused.
