That's RPG in the literal sense (As in, a pure RPG would be). All we know about RPG gaming is diverted from Dungeons & Dragons with it's competitors and varations. jRPGs are known for being linear compared to wRPGs, but there is no doubt the inspiration has come from PnPRPGs. And because their linear, you can think of them as a very straight forward campaign with only 2-3 choices that dictate the direction of the game. Which could be entertaining or as boring if the players think of it that way. There is also the fact theres Roleplaying and Rollplaying now a days as well, but that's a whole nother topic.
