Robert Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7233 FireNes allows us to play around 2500 Nintendo games, without the need to download anything or emulator or roms. You need to be a member to download the plugin. I think the thing about not needing roms is probably crap - since someone pointed me to the site where they come from. But, it seems this works.
L.S.D Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 This is a great find Robert. Wow, look like they are loading the rom online or something.
Ryuken Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 i don't want to make an account, btw u sure ur not downloading the rom in ur browser cache folder ?
Cloudd Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 meh... NES emulators come in so many different forms these days.
Inky Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 i don't want to make an account, btw u sure ur not downloading the rom in ur browser cache folder ?thats prolly what is happening, we are only talking 200~500kb roms
Lucandrake Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Supposedly the emulator is linked off one server, so that many can run it, while all the roms are located on another server, which the emulator just pulls and uses while you do your thing. If that involves cache in any way, idk !
ken_cinder Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 EVERYTHING is downloaded, and cached by your browser. Any site/add-on that says otherwise is silly. Even streamed items are cached.
Wishdokta Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 (edited) It's a cool topic, it's a cool plugin and there'r the games we love. But what a hell of a shyte control . The mixed z/y on keyboard layouts turnin me off (didn't find any clues in installation folder). It's ok for a Bomberman or Adventures of Lolo. But i use my rockNes for that with savegames and gamepad. Maybe a nice office idea replacing browser games. But NES jump'n runs? Surely not Edited June 1, 2008 by Wishdokta
Agozer Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Although the concept is kickass to the highest degree, it's simply no match to a good standalone NES emulator. For those who've never used an emulator in their life, this thing is great.
L.S.D Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Well, it seems that FIRENES does not allow saves? I mean, not even the mean to key in passwords? oh, BTW, what is the 99 lives ocde for Contra?
