King Kong is dead

King Kong has met his match once again -- this time it's fire at Universal Studios.

Fire officials confirmed that the King Kong building in the back lot of Universal has been completely destroyed! Also perishing in the fire: New York Street and Hill Valley (the town from "Back to the Future" and current set for "The Ghost Whisperer").

A video vault containing 40,000 - 50,000 videos and reels were also destroyed -- but officials say there are copies elsewhere.

poor Kong. maybe Universal will rebuild that attraction bigger and better now, it was pretty dated.

50,000 videos on King Kong?!? Wow.

no just 50,000 Universal films in general. basically their vault that holds all the original reels from their past movies. they say they have copies in other locations though.

You'd think they have some sort of sophisticated fire suppressing system in a state-of-the-art fireproof vault. Now they're going to have to make 40-50,000 backups of the copies. That may take a while :(
