9tendo
When I was 11 years old I had a dream that I had every single NES game ever made. I was so happy.. until I woke up. Now that dream is a reality. The Xbox 1 was and still is (due in part to 1emulation), the golden age of modding. No console has been more hackable, more versatile than a modified Xbox 1. This console has even outlasted it's own death, long after MS pulled the plug. A new release from team XBMC every other week.. A new XBMC skin every now and then.. Constantly updated python scripts.. An occasional new emulator or compilation from a 1emulation or xbox-scene member.. Have you done everything there is to do on a modified Xbox? I haven't. Some things on my list - Install newest GentooX- Install and play with DSL epsxe- Find Quake2, Decent, and Duke Nukem- Install latest StepmaniaX and get it working with latest content- Test the HD resolution options in all of the Xbox emulators- Test some sega CD games- Complete and properly configure my DaphneX collection- Revive ninjahacker.net (anyone have $25,000 I can borrow?) Some things I wish for: - Frets on fire for Xbox- More interesting Linux based applications or emulators released for DSL- A better xbe browser than linksbox- HTML and flash integration with XBMC- A branching out to new application ideas (not just media and emulators) Yeah, so the Xbox is only 733MHz PIII with 64MB RAM and Geforce3 graphics. But so much as been done with this hardware. I hope the Xbox community never loses it's steam. May we see new ideas, applications, and updates for years to come. It's a shame to see the beefy hardware in these new consoles go to waste. I hope one day, we get something just like the Xbox 1. Exactly like it - PC based, current technology, with onboard video and sound and a development environment open to Homebrew and anyone that want's to create things for it. Imagine an XBMC comfortable with HD. Emulation taken to a whole new level because of 3GHz+ speeds and current GPU technology. For now, we can only dream for that day and hope it becomes our reality.
