Gouken
I recently bought a PS2 to mod. So far these are the materials I have... Playstation 2 SCPH-50001Network AdaptorMaxtor 300GB HDDHDD LoaderClear CaseDVD RemoteCodebreaker8MB Memory CardLogitech Wireless Controller 2GB Pen Drive500GB External HDD Anything else needed to mod this without a mod chip? Ok, I was trying to find a good codebreaker tutorial for the MC exploit, but really couldn't find one that was detailed enough for me. I was wondering if you guys could help. Let me know! Edit: I just put a clear case on my PS2. It's the non-flip top kind and I'm having some problems with the disk stayin on track (2 round thingies). Any way to fix this? Bobdrakke
I suggest http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/index.htm and for help try psx scene/console exploits forums. To make life easier if you have a friend who has exploited/modded ps2 already then use theirs to get the exploit on to your memcard. Then simply plug in to yours, as hard mods don't know but try the above forums.
Gouken
Wow, really good codebreaker tutorial! Exactly what I wanted! So what exactly does FreeMC do for me? Edit: Oh, fixed the case, looks great. Edit2: What I would eventually like to do is put emulators on my PS2, run PS2 games off the HDD, and store movies (divx, xvid) on it as well. Can I use codebreaker on games that are on my HDD? Edited September 3, 2008 by Gouken
Bobdrakke
I'm not too clued up on this but here is the gist FreeMC acts like the memor32 except you can use most memcards except clones. So this makes your Ps2 modded so you can play backups (images have to be patched before burned, check the above forums) you can like the previous exploits have other ps2 executable progs called elfs. uLanchELF is filemanager and can launch other elfs, allows ftp and has memcard copy and format options. It can also use hdd via network adaptor and usb pen drives to launch elfs like sms media player, hdl for games or emulators. Since having the xbox modded first I haven't looked too much at the emulation or media player too much. According to Blacknight sms can play mkv as well so I take its quite decent and play xvid/divx with no problems.
Gouken
Ok, so I got the exploit running. Now I'd like to make things a bit more streamlined. How do I replace uLaunchelf on the main screen with a more efficient loader? Also, is it possible to add more elf programs to the PS2 title screen instead of having to use a launcher all the time? I'd like to put SMS Media Player on the title screen, as well as another launcher. Thanks! Edited September 6, 2008 by Gouken
Devia Eleven
Do you mind showing a picture of your PS2 with it's setup?
Gouken
Do you mind showing a picture of your PS2 with it's setup? Its set-up? lol! It's just getting hooked up to my girlfriends TV so we can watch movies and I can play games while she's doing... girl things. Of course I made it look pretty, I have to, I love modding things, but as of right now... No picture. I'd rather take one once it's all done. Seriously, does anyone know if I can put more then uLaunchelf on the main PS2 screen, or does it all have to launch off an elf launcher?
