Alpha
It has been driving me bananas lately. I want to build a cheap media center PC that has DVI output and has a small form factor design (slim). I don't want a big regular computer for it to do the job. I have been looking at all kinds of used computers and prices for building one. I really don't want to spend more than a $150 if that is at all possible. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I should start? Thanks.
svt_lightning
if your going with cheapest then it might be b/c you just want to build a media however I think $250 is more real then 150 it can be done however your going to have to be patient on some items for free shipping b/c shipping can add up but I'll find you a cheap spec and you can go from there. websites to check (newegg.com sometimes tigerdirect.com) only ones I like for computer stuff

arnesr
Not sure what you require a HTPC to do for you, but it's unlikely you will find something something for 150 bones. You might consider the WD TV HD for content playback as it plays quite a few formats. No DVI, just HDMI for HD, so you would need a converter cable(Monoprice).http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/894459
ken_cinder
Yeah, you're not even going to find an HTPC case for $150, they're expensive. Find a micro ATX case, and build from there. Even doing that, you're not going to build for $150 unless you use old as hell parts.
