Hera
My husband and I took a mini-vacation to see some of his relatives up in Yulee, FL (N. of Jacksonville). We were in the mood for some classic rock and so we turn on the station. First song was from Van Halen, Second song was Journey and the third song.... "Learn to Fly" by Foo Fighers Fourth song... "Rape Me" by Nirvana FIFTH SONG.... "You oughta know" by Alanis Morrisette ...wtf? I remember when Alanis was on "You Can't Do That On Television" back in the day. I'm about to be 25 ffs and they're already considering that crap CLASSIC?!?!
Weirdy
It's classic as in it was a big hit more than ten years ago classic. Speaking of classic, I don't listen to much recent stuff anymore. Usually I'll leech a new ebm compilation, but that's it.
Lucandrake
"Learn to Fly" by Foo Fighers That is classic. I get high off that song alone.
The-Ice-Man
The year Aladdin came out on video it was labeled a Disney classic. This happens everywhere now. Classic doesn't mean much anymore.
Inky
the oldies / classic rock decades have shifted. 50's early 60's used to be oldies now oldies is 70's with a sprinkling of late 60's classic rock used to be 70's and early 80's now its 80's and 90's with a sprinkling of 70's. It sucks. but that's what iPods are for. It even happened in the country genre, classic country used to be 60's and 70's with a bit of early 80's now classic country is lucky to reach back past '85.It sucks for me musically, I live in the 50's through to the 70's. there isn't one station that plays anything I like. Krosigrim
Well if you look up the definition of classic... of the first or highest quality, class, or rank: a classic piece of work.serving as a standard, model, or guidemodeled upon or imitating the style or thoughtof or adhering to an established set of artistic or scientific standards or methodsbasic; fundamentalof enduring interest, quality, or styleof literary or historical renowntraditional or typicaldefinitive apparently we just relate classic to old. But it isn't so.
Skythe
I-95 (95.5 FM) use to be the classic rock station where I live but somewhere in the last year they've change to now being just a regular rock station to compete with the other local rock station. Krosigrim
Well it's only based on others opinion anyway. Misscatigorization too. When I burned Metallica Black album to my 360, it had the songs under rock. It's Metal, which IS a form of rock, but I generally dislike rock. And besides, Rock... the title sounds so stupid. Yea makes me think of hair metal.
