Agozer
Make sure that dc_bios.bin and dc_flash.bin are in the Data directory.
Mythreial
yeah, they're in there, but still isnt working
Agozer
Well, you could always try another emulator, if Chankast fails you (they are far better anyway). Still, if both files are present as is in the Data directory, such error message shouldn't come up.
Mythreial
okay i downloaded another bios file, and put it in there, and now its works on alpha 2.0a but on 2.5 nothing will happen past the date and time, and on 2.0 it wont play my game, and last time i looked skies of arcadia worked on chankast
Agozer
Your dc_flash.bin file is corrupt if the emulator keeps asking to set the date/time. Only the non-Echelon version of Skies of Arcadia works on Chankast (good luck finding that unless you rip your own disc images) . There is a program to "fix" the Echelon release to run on Chankast, but said program only works perfectly for some, and once in a blue moon. If you want to play SoA so badly, I suggest you try Demul or nullDC instead.
Mythreial
ive tried nulldc but whenever i start it up, its says theres an error and that re-installing it would work, and everytime i re-installed it, it said the same thing EDIT: ok i tried demul, and well when i click run dc, an error comes up saying "Cant open C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\dc.zip" Edited July 16, 2009 by Mythreial
Agozer
nullDC requires VisualC++ SP1 runtimes from Microsoft to run (had you read the accompanied ReadMe file, you'd know this). Demul requires dc.zip with dc.dat in it and the Dreamcast BIOS file (both need to be in the roms folder). I would also suggest that you refrain installing your stuff directly onto the Desktop. Mythreial
well the nulldc didnt have the readme with it but is there any way for me to get the dc.zip file from for demul? also you know the numbers on the bottom of the dreamcast to tell whether or not that particular console could read burnt games without modding, if you can you tell whether is 0 or 1, i pretty sure its one of them, but i cant remember
Agozer
but is there any way for me to get the dc.zip file from for demul?Yes. there is always a way to get stuff on the Internet, I'm sure you are aware of that.Google it. Or Yahoo it. Or Bing it. Or whatever search engine you use. No, you can't ask us to get it for you. also you know the numbers on the bottom of the dreamcast to tell whether or not that particular console could read burnt games without modding, if you can you tell whether is 0 or 1, i pretty sure its one of them, but i cant remember...Which has very little to do with Dreamcast emulation. Anyway AFAIK, this "model XXXX can read CD-Rs without modding, while model YYYY can't" myth has been proven to be false. Given the use of proper bootdiscs and proper burning methods, any Dreamcast console should be able to boot and play any game.
