Californiadad Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I'm in the process of installing a 40GB hard drive and I'm having problems getting it locked. The net says it's a lockable hard drive. So I'm wondering if there is another program I can run to get it locked? My drive is a IBM DeskStar #IC35L040AVER07-0 40GB
letmealone Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) Try Liveinfo, it needs the new hdd connected to pc, also the backup of the eprom of the Xbox. It will calculate the right password code to lock the hdd. Edited October 27, 2009 by letmealone
Californiadad Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 Sorry I just can't figure it out.
Californiadad Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 I keep making things worse and worse
The-Ice-Man Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Boot up your xbox with a copy of Slayer's Auto Installer disc. It has an option to lock and unlock the hard drive.
The-Ice-Man Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Should do. It's been ages but I remember when I first installed evox using Slayer's I left the drive unlocked for some reason and rebooted, and it booted the disc again fine. Then I locked it. I have a modchip though, dunno if that has anything to do with it. Can't hurt to try.
cba.gy Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 The magic word there Ice_Man. Modchip. Chipped machines dont need the lock as the bios and stuff is circumnavigated (bypassed). Softmods are a different kettle of fish so to speak. Shit better run off to google and get my facts right BP will be all over this thread if not.
The-Ice-Man Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 The first post didn't specify chip or softmod, so I was just posting what I know. I had a feeling softmod might be problem.
Californiadad Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 So If im soft modded I'm skrewed? You know whats weird is, I went ahead and tried to just re-format and re use my stock 8 gig drive and it does the same thing. I'm using xboxhdm 1.9. I know the stock drive is lockable, so what gives??????
cba.gy Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Im gonna throw this one in here but here goes, did you include the unlock/lock code (or at least write it down) in your iso ?
