Shibathedog Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Some guy attempted to back up everything on Geocities. http://reocities.com/ Why would you save any of that garbage? If you ask me closing geocities cleaned up the net a bit. Anyone who knew anything about anything was hosted somewhere else. There was a reason people called it Geoshitties.
Lucandrake Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Geocities, what myspace was before myspace became myspace.
VT-Vincent Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I actually have pretty fond memories from the old free hosts... namely AngelFire. That is where I started my first site and where I learned HTML. I thought they were a great user-friendly starting point for new users. Unfortunately, all of these services have fallen WAY behind the times and their importance is non-existent. I can respect him for wanting to back up GeoCities though, it's a part of the internet that will be lost forever. At the same time though, I would never expect Yahoo to keep it going indefinitely - I think they picked the right time to kill it off.
Skythe Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I made a Geocities site to host all my sprite rips from SvC Chaos and my sprite edits.
Skythe Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I still have the edits. I don't care about the rips since you can get them anywhere now.
Shibathedog Posted October 31, 2009 Author Posted October 31, 2009 Angelfire, What about Tripod!? Homestead!? Netfirms?!
