Californiadad
Just picked this up today for a very good price. I think It will work out well for what I plan to do. Going to use a fresh 27" TV powered by the Xbox two 4 way joysticks and about 22 buttons total, Might even see if I can run some gun's as well. First thing I need to do is cut myself a new button control panel and figure out the placment of all these damn buttons.

Thats why I'm going to try and build my own. Lots of tricks like going to wire the coin insert as the add coin button or "back button" off the xbox remote. I got ideas coming out of my ears. bulge2
looks good - thats a great cabinet to start of with - if it helps heres some pics of my golden tee conversion.- i have limited the buttons so i didnt need to replicate every xbox button. ive got a microsoft visio template some where you can have which makes the design and cutting of the control panel a lot less bother. from this: to this: and the new midi version
Californiadad
Damn!!! Those look fantastic! I have a question on the screen. What size is it? It it a standard TV? How did you mount it in the cab?
bulge2
yeah thanks for the remarks - a lot of time, love and money goes into my machines. i noticed your cab looks like a converted gaunlet or turtles/simpson cab (the giveaway is the 4 player coin mech) - a great cab though - looks like you have got the space for it too! The monitors in my cabs are original cabinet 15/25hz RGB monitors that came with the cabinets. Most of the time your better off using whats in there to start off with - but if theres any doubt in the monitor (screen burn, colour problems etc ) then its better to get a standard 4:3 CRT television and put that in there. CRT tvs are pretty much exactly the same as arcade monitors except you have a scart/composite input rather than a RBG Hsync Vsync connection/ input. TBH if your monitors all good in the golden tee cab id get one of these conversion boards from Yaton in canada - they convert normal xbox signals into 15/25hx RGB and come complet with a new jamma loom for all the buttons and sound. Theres a couple of points on the loom you have to change which ill tell you about later if you decide to go this route - but if its your first conversion then id recommend this as you dont have to convert game pads or change the monitor. Personally now i try to buy cabs with dead monitors and replace them with CRT's as i can get them cheaper http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/X-BOX-TO-SUPERGUN-JA...=item483821d653. looks good - keep me updated - the xbox is a great choice to put in a cab !
