Thanks for the up. Trying to convert mainly mame stuff rather than ps1, but appreciate it regardless.

Any idea best app to create a wmv from an avi. I used format factory and vlc with no success. Keep getting "ERROR: Unable to process WMA stream."

no luck thanks for trying. Could be the avi source OR the fact i'm trying to do this on win7.

The only wmv converter that I know of that can convert files to wmv8 format (needed for the xmv converter) is "STOIK Video Converter". You will need to change the converters "profile" to record in wmv8. I had to experiment with this program quite a bit before I got videos that were up to quality. There is a freeware version on the net.
