This is something that will require everyone in the world's cooperation. First, wait for the earthquake to happen... then, when you see a fissure forming, grab both sides of the ground and hold them together as tight as you can. If everyone does this at once, it will temporarily stop the earthquake. Then, someone needs to run (and swim) around the world with a giant roll of duct tape.
