Inky
alright.... the vids I want to split are in .m4v format. VirtualDub doesn't seem to recognize them. and my handbrake will only rip to .m4v or.mkv they play fine on my pc so I know I have the correct codecs. suggestions? emsley
if you have the codec on your PC windows movie maker might accept the file. trouble is if you put ".4v to avi convertor" into google youll get nothing but spam and crappy pay programmes.Your best bet is to join a site like jitaway suggested and let the ripper geeks yell at you for been a noob then getting it to "work." Inky
I am gonna try Jit's suggestion. maybe re-rip with a different program. they will open in Windows movie maker. but it locks up on me after a few splits.I wanna load up the full file. then set a bunch of cut points. and do it all at once. emsley
try updating your movie maker. try putting the files in the converting them to as higher quality as you can without cutting or fiddling with them, then windows movie maker might accept the WMV better than the lesser known codec and stop spitting its dummy out on you.
