stf
Do you thinks vmm routines could be added to the psichyo driver, as IQ_132 is a specialist ? I'm thinking about games like Dragon Blaze (some big slowdowns), Strikers 1945 II & III (big slowdowns+sometimes can't reach the end of the game), I haven't placed them in my rom list because of those slowdowns & problems. Maybe vmm routines are already in, and it's only the xbox that can't play them perfectly ? + T +
VMM doesn't make a game faster; in fact it makes it slower because the Xbox is having to read and write to the HDD rather than the physical RAM. VMM is only useful for making games run that require more memory than the Xbox has available. The reason these games run slow is due to lack of CPU power, so the only way to speed them up would be to either optimise or add speed hacks to the driver in order to reduce the processing power needed for emulation. stf
OK , i thought the slowdowns could be due to a saturated ram, because I can't remember where but a guy said there was no more slowdowns on his 128Mb Xbox (not a 1.4GHz processor but a normal one). + T +
That means these games already use VMM.
stf
Thanks for your explanation +T+.So what about a speed hack, lord IQ_132 ? (edit, 'cause I wrote a bad english) Edited April 14, 2012 by stf
iq_132
Thanks for your explanation +T+.So what about a speed hack, lord IQ_132 ? (edit, 'cause I wrote a bad english) If you're referring to the psikyo SH2-based games, they're already heavily speed-hacked. The main issue there, along with the cps3 games, is that the cpu for these games is a Hitachi SH2.The only thing I can do to increase the frame rate is rip out sprite zooming, but that would make it extremely ugly. :S
stf
Thanks for the answer IQ_132.So I'll continue to play with them on my PC .
2xMarcy
A big thank and a quick bug report: CPS3 games and neogeo decrypted roms (mslug3nd, sengok3n, kof2knd...) don't work. Corresponding neogeo encrypted roms work good. Romset should be ok, since I just checked them using romcenter with .dat file included in the emulator archive.
