Hey I know there's various xbox arcade emulators around, mostly based off MAME.

My question is, what MAME version is each emulator derived from?

coinops, mameox 128 and mamedox are based off mame 0.84 but coinops has had new game drivers added which lets you play games which are not available in mameox 128 and mamedox.

It's due to the fact that there were major changes to the controller input code in 0.85. I remember XPort saying that he'd had a go at porting a newer build but that it was too much work.

As a side note; some versions of MAMEoX based on older MAME builds are still useful for playing certain games. For example; I keep MAMEoX 0.72 around for playing Midway games as they run choppy in newer builds.

isnt Final Burn Legends based on newer mame versions i think the latest FBL release is based on 0.144u1 with some newer PGM drivers

that added support for both ddp2 and demon front

yeah totally agree best to split the midways across both mameox 0.72 and mameXb6 as some play better in each version

Final Burn Legends is based on Final Burn Alpha. Many drivers are ported from MAME drivers and it does use MAME ROMsets, but it's an entirely different emulator.
