Alpha
Prostitution. It's a taboo and a question of morals. It's in every country and just about every city if you look hard enough. You can probably find it in the back of your city newspaper ("call girls", "escorts", etc.). But what if it was completely legal? Legal in every country and throughout the world? What would happen? The women and men who enter prostitution would suddenly have insurance, benefits, and more. Perhaps it would even enter the next stage => full commercialization. You start to see little drive thru's everywhere and as consistent as a Starbucks in every corner. When you reach the drive-thru -- you can choose if you want a man or woman. You can further choose what sex acts you desire... you can see what's on sale or available. Once you pick what you want, the person you select walks out and hops into your passenger seat. You then park in the building's parking structure that has privacy walls. The sex act is performed and you go home like you just got a happy meal (and you probably did). Sometimes when I think about it -- why do we fight the war on drugs? War on prostitution? War on blah? If we embrace it, market it, perhaps it will actually kill a lot of the problems that we try to solve on a daily basis (i.e. eliminating rape in society, eliminating sex trafficking, etc.). I thought of this thread because I have realized with some of my friends that there's a whole new market of men and women who are unfortunately lost on a real world social level and have no idea how to initiate anything with the opposite sex without the convenience of social media, text messaging, or other virtual nonsense. It's what makes sites like Match.com and E-Harmony such a hot commodity, but in reality are designed for people who gave up trying to pick up someone in the real world. So I ask you 1emu-ers... what if prostitution were legal across the globe? Would you embrace it or hate it? Would you assign it as a sin and a new tool to further the greed and subconscious desires of gluttony in humanity? Or would you see it as something that would actually bring more love and happiness in the world, more stable marriages, and an outlet to satisfy our insatiable hunger for sex? Sybarite Paladin AxL
I wholeheartedly support the legalisation and taxation of both prostitution and recreational drug manufacture and distribution for mass consumption, following strict medical guidelines and prescriptionless oversight. I wouldn't consider it a sin just as much I don't consider anything we humans do as sinful simple based on the fact that we as a species are incapable of taking responsibility for our actions and require scapegoats like religion and something to tell us that it's not our faults we're dumbfucks. I wouldn't consider the above morally questionable either as long as it doesn't interfere negatively with the lives of other people physically, their convictions notwithstanding. Robert
Personally, don't care either way. However I'm certainly not against anything that is consensual and doesn't hurt anybody. Probably shouldn't bring religion into it, but you can guess where the opposition would come from.

Bambi
I'd support it, more jobs more people working. But if it was like a drive thru I'd have reservations about it. I've talked to Alpha about what I think about this too.The stigma of being a "prostitute" would affect a lot too.
Lucandrake
I honestly don't see what the big deal is with these topics. When it comes to prostitution and recreational drug use (I'm using Marijuana as an example, I'm not entirely sure about the other drugs) I'd figure that government support and testing would make the environment even safer than it's current status. Also people who go about doing these things should require a license (both the workers and the customers) to make sure it's not going in the wrong hands (minors) or for other purposes (std's). I'm all for defending the children currently it's not really doing much. I knew about prostitution and drugs by the time I turned ten and it was usually because of the bs controversy people surround it with.
Bambi
Well drugs and prostitution are 2 very different topics. I support both BUT not the hard drugs. I think marijuana should be legalized. Cocaine, extasy, meth they can all be thrown in the garbage. Even with prostitution it's a gray legal area here. We have bordellos that are legal but it's full of rules so it's fairly controlled. Plus if you would do a prostitute without a condom your messed in the head!

Anyone who doesn't wear a condom with a prostitute is an idiot. And any prostitute who accepts a man without a condom is insane.
