roofus
Short answer, as Agozer said, is that you need a modchip and I personally use one. However, you don't need a modchip. You don't even need modified font / audio files on your harddrive like many people on xbox-scene suggest. If you have an action replay, know someone who has a modded xbox or have someway of getting files onto a memory card and the game Mechassault ($20), you can run custom apps (emulators, xbox media player, dongle free dvd player, etc) without a chip. If anyone's interested, I can post a tutorial for this, and maybe instructions as to how to put together the files needed or the files themselves if someone has webspace to spare.
