2eyez Posted April 23, 2004 Share Posted April 23, 2004 When i start my computer up, it does does that. A black screen pops up and it says "Missing Operating System". I don't know what happened. Gryph Posted April 23, 2004 Share Posted April 23, 2004 Whoa...holy crap. Are you using Win XP? If you are, I suggest you reinstall Windows XP (no need to reformat). Seriously, though, it's possible you contracted a virus and it deleted important files or formatted your hard drive. That or you accidentally deleted an important file to the boot up process. GryphonKlaw's advice should work for any operating system, not just XP. Of course, this is assuming that you do have the intall disc. If you don't (i.e. you bought a Compaq) try to use the restore disc, otherwise you're SOL (Sure Out of Luck according to my Junior High shop teacher). Unless you have a massive amount of PS2, Xbox, and/or Gamecube games, you'll be fine. If you do, though, they might report you (dunno, though).
