jeffkong Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 How can I make a DVD+RW drive compatible with DVD-R discs. I don't know for sure, but would firmware make this possible? I've looked around http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php but I'm not quite sure. Please help.
Ghosty Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 Do You Mean like Burning A DVD-R On A DVD+R/W Drive? If That Is The Case, I Don't Think It's Possible Unless You Get The Burner For DVD-R, Cuz I've Heard--I Think Here--That The Two Different DVD's Are Formated Differntly
Wizard Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 Yes, both DVD's are formatted diffrently from each other. The only way to do so is to get a seperate burner or find the DVD-R version of your drive and change it to those bios, but you won't be able to use +r anymore tho :/
kaioshade Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 (edited) You can change the booktype of DVD+R discs to be recognized as -R discs. Not all burners support this feature however. Some multiformat discs support this feature. Very few +R only writers support this. Example I have a lite-on 851s (8x +R, 6X -R) and it works wonders. my xbox samsung drive which doesnt usually read +r discs, they all work flawlessly. Edited May 8, 2004 by kaioshade
jeffkong Posted May 9, 2004 Author Posted May 9, 2004 I'd like to change the booktype of a DVD-R disc to a DVD+R so it can work in my DVD+RW only drive.
