Capcom Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 Is there a way to port a NES rom into a MAME rom? I wanna do that for SMB3 and was wondering if there is a way and how. What would I need?
Agozer Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 No, unless MAME supports NES rom images....which I doubt.
StriderSkorpion Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 You can play SMB3 with MAME, but only the PC10 rom. MAME can only play a handful of NES (based, at least) games. Those are the Playchoice 10 and VS games. On a side note, I kinda wonder how much Playchoice 10 systems and games go for these days (rhetorical question, so no need to answer).
James Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 I thinks thats what Mess is for but only plays the console based games.
StriderSkorpion Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 Yeah, MESS emulates consoles and computers, IIRC. It's mainly best for computer emulation, if I'm not mistaken. AFAIK, you can't convert NES console roms into PC10 or VS. Even if you did, you'd have to write the proper driver and that may include adding mapper emulation.
James Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 hopefully in the near futureconsole based games will never be in mame.
Agozer Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 hopefully in the near futureconsole based games will never be in mame. Since MAME is an arcade emulator.
StriderSkorpion Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 If you want a MAME like multiple console emulator, try MESS like james said. It's not the best emulator for NES games, but it supports other consoles too. It supports computers too, which I believe we already stated.
