Wizard Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 Tekken 4 just looked very very very very very very very very nice.
Riot.EXE Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 Looks great, hopefully the gameplay's good. I didn't like Tekken 4's gameplay too much.Because for the most part Tekken 4 was garbage. It took a step backwards. The game play was so broken. Namco said that they have learned from there mistake and they are going to fix the game play, and also make the game more like VF. But in witch way I don't know. in my eyes...Tekken 4's only flaws were the inclusion of position changes (replacing the left limb throw commands) and the fact that there were only 3 new characters, but only 3 new movesets (since Jin changed styles, and Christie was merely a feminized Eddy) ...but the new environments were a big step up from the boring flat "carousel" stages in the past 4 games (1-3 and family reunion/tag)

The "hittable things" in locations looked good for about 2 minutes, but it really ruined gameplay. It prevented moves and combos coming out properly, and restricted the flow of gameply, the flow that looks and plays so well on Tekken Tag Tourament (as long as you aren't a button masher.) TTT is my favourite Tekken, I don't see why everyone bags it. Plus, the combos went from being long, rich and beatiful ballets in Tekken 2,3 and TTT to boring poke - prod moves in Tekken 4. The combos in Tekken 4 were shocking!!!
sammaz Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 yeah i just sold a real tekken 4 arcade machine...i played it all the time when it was here...you just have to play in the arcade cabinet
Riot.EXE Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 I blame the controllers of the PS2 what was wrong with the ps2 controller? its nt like you were playin' tekken on a gc controller
Inky Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 I blame the controllers of the PS2 what was wrong with the ps2 controller? its nt like you were playin' tekken on a gc controller I've always disliked the ps and ps2 controller. I like trigger style shoulders (dc, xbx) over shoulder buttons. I'd rather have a saturn /Genasis 6 button type of controller myself. hopefully the capcom pads coming out at the same time as sf3 will be 6 face buttons.
Wizard Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 I blame the controllers of the PS2 what was wrong with the ps2 controller? its nt like you were playin' tekken on a gc controller Honestly dude. I would rather play Tekken 4 on a GC controller, because it handles awfully on a PS2 one.
Cominus Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 It would probably kick azz if the xbox had a better d-pad. The buttons stick out farther than the ps2 making it easier to press the button, especially in combos.
L.S.D Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 Personally, I always think the Tekken series improved with each series, making it better. But Tekken 5 looks just like Tekken 4 in term of graphics.Hope they do something different with the gameplay
solidius23 Posted May 13, 2004 Author Posted May 13, 2004 get ya an xarcade stick and ya should be good to go on ps2
