Agozer
Sadly, we are those people. We may be the dominate life form on earth. But we certainly aren't the smartest.I don't know about you but I sure as hell ain't stupid. But considering your views on Iraq, you're sure as hell ignorant! Whoa! Flame, and i wasn't even in it. Is that even possible?! Any ways, I suggest life in prison with no chance of parol, the main part yall left out. You can have like 5 life sentences and probably still be eligible for parol, and another thing, it's I guess illegal to kill a crazy person (Retarded) so if the guy acts crazy in jail then he can go to an institution and get out in less than a year. In Texas they still kill retarted people I think. Just earlier this week or last week they executed a mentally challenged inmate. And Skythe, you make me laugh. And african americans based on false accusations.....and Skythe, I don't think you understood K`dash's post or you take things too personally. someboddy
Death penalty is wrong, and anyone who says otherwise should be executed
N3oGhost
I don't know my cost analysis of keepin an inmate for 50+ years in prison but I'm pretty sure that death row inmates dont hang around for that long before they get brought to the justice they were given. Keeping inmates in prisons cost money, taxpayer money. All the wrongly accused people that are now being discovered deal with current forensic science being used for past crimes. Perhaps were in a place now where science help prevent those things but either way our world is more crime-filled today than it was years past. The more severe the punishment, the less people take the risk in the crime. Death penalty is easy cheese compared to some crazy crap countries do around the world today and hundreds of years ago. Why should someone that takes a life be allowed the priveledge of life? Yay for the death penalty but nay for the lengthy process in delivering justice. Afterall, theres rapists, theives and all sorts of other bile waiting in line for their reservation into PEN hotel. Let's make room, theres always more on the way. Skythe
Keeping people in jail for life takes up space in jail. Sooner or later there won't be anymore room. Especially for people who go to jail for lesser crimes like shop lifting or whatever. Plus, someone who kills shouldn't be given privelages like free cable and lounging for life while I'm trying to pay electric or water bills so I can relax as well. Pfft! random guy
I think you guys are underrating the experience of going to jail - not that I've ever been in jail personally, but from what I've seen and heard, I'm certain that it would not be fun. They may have cable, but i bet they only get to watch tv for like one hour. Plus there's the fact that you can't move from your cell for hours and hours at a time, not to mention the fact that if you go to prison, you have to either kick the toughest guy there's ass the first day, or else become someone's biatch. Either way, not fun. Plus its already been said that executing someone costs as much or more as jailing them for life. And the fact that people are being sent home from death row in great numbers because of new forensics to help prove their innocence does NOT mean that everyone who gets sent to death row from now on are 100% sure to be guilty, N30Ghost. There are STILL people being framed, still people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time who couldn't afford to hire a decent lawyer, and there'll still be innocent men on death row at this very moment. For that reason alone the death penalty is not acceptable.I know prisons are overcrowded, but if you look at the people in jail, there are still going to be more black guys put in jail than white guys. That's because even in this day and age, the law favours rich, middle-upper class white people, so for that reason also the death penalty cannot be advocated. Until the law treats everybody equally, and until people have equal access to equally skilled lawyers regardless of how much money they have, such a severe punishment as the death penalty can only be seen for what it is, a twisted and unfair practice, which sets the wrong example for people anyway, because murdering a murderer is still murder, so people will think, 'if the state can do it, why the hell can't I?' Then it probably wouldn't matter if he were somebodys be'otch, and they dont spend so many hours in the cell, well it depends on what kind of crime and stuff you did, the life sentence guys are the ones that get real hell and the others it's probably not as bad. Chaotica
The fact that innocent people can be sent to their deaths should be enough of a deterrent to capital punishment, IMO.
