Yesterday, K'Dash send me the rom for Garou MOTW Full set 77.2MB.

I was just wandering what is the diff between 77.2MB rom and the 36.6MB rom.

I have both so I can't see any difference.

Same goes to Metal Slug 3. THe only other rom that come with 77.2MB.

And is SVC full set also 77.2MB?

Encrypted = 77.2MB

Decrypted = 36.6MB

There is meant to be a Encrypted SVC romset somewhere.

Hmmm.....then, what is the difference between encrypted and decrypted?

I have KOF roms that is encrypted and decrypted and both roughly the same size.

:)

And which one is better? Thanks, James.

I can't tell the difference. But I would it would be the loading time of each one.

Encrypted is usually the better since it's closer to the original. (The ROMs on the PCB were encrypted)

Emulators like NeoRAGEx can't read encrypted sets, thus why such sets exist.

the main reason encrypted sets are huge even when zipped is because those ROMs barely compress at all.

also, emulators like MAME, Nebula and Kawaks tend to be memory intensive to these as they have to be decrypted while being loaded into memory which is the main reason to use decrypted Cs in Kawaks and Nebula. official MAME and FBA do not support decrypted sets but thankfully FBA isnt as memory intensive as the others (according to Jan Klaassen, FBA Team member)

So, my understanding now is encrypted roms is the next best thing to the real game, but memory intensive?

Nebula does support both encrypted and decrypted, is it?

Doesn't that make Nebula the best emulator?
