random guy
This was inspired by a reply from gryph in the "best scene for a horror movie" thread. An online forum such as 1emulation... So here's the first installment of the 1emulation horror storyTM. N3wbie81 furtively hit the reload key, and cast his eyes down to the user list at the bottom of the screen. There he was again. It seemed like no matter which thread he visited, that ominous nickname would be right behind him - no, more than that, it was always THERE at the bottom of the screen before the page loaded. He tried to convince himself that it was just a coincidence...but no, there was no escaping it, he was being net-stalked. To try to calm his freyed nerves, N3wbie81 tried again to recall what exactly had led him to this situation. Perhaps he had broken an unwritten rule of 1emulation. All he'd done is start from the oldest page of each forum and post in all the topics that interested him. That and post a number of quality photos of Mai having anal sex with Geese Howard. He'd even tried to give everyone a treat with his 700*500 animated gif of 10 seconds footage ripped from "Dead or alive: Exteme Volleyball". Whatever could he have done to anger any 1emulation forum members? After another paranoia-induced page reload, N3bie81 noticed that he had a pm. His heart skipped a beat as he contemplated that perhaps his stalker had sent that message. But no, he tried to reassure himself, he's been too busy stalking, he couldn't have had time to send a PM. Or could he? He hesitatingly clicked the link to his inbox. When he saw the name of the recipient, his heart tried to jump out of his mouth. It WAS the stalker! The message was addressed simply, "Read this". That one terse emotionless message filled N3bie81 with fear. He did not know what to expect as he retrieved his message. As the words filled the screen, N3bie81's face froze. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but no sound came out. His eyes were glued to the screen - he could not move them if he tried - hell, he WAS trying. But the text on his screen had him paralysed with fear. Who is N3bie81's stalker? What is the terrifying text of the mysterious private message? And what will happen to the N3wb? Find out in the next chilling tale of the 1emulation horror storyTM. To be completed: if I feel like it. Edited July 23, 2004 by random guy

random guy
I've decided I'm only going to continue the story if I get enough replies. But if I do get enough replies, I'll make it a "sherlock holmes" style mystery!

random guy
Well, here is part 2: This could go on for a while though. Blue_line woke up with a jerk to the desperate beeping sound his computer made whenever he got an email to his "special address" the one that anybody who knew the address knew was for matters of urgency only. Stumbling out of bed, he kicked over an empty 2 litre bottle of coke, and stepped in the congealed remains of last night's nacho dinner. Cursing, he hopped over to his computer chair, trying to keep the cheese off of the layer of dirty laundry that littered his bedroom. Still shaking the sleep from his head, he tried to force the blurry letters on the screen to come into focus. When they finally complied he almost wished they hadn''t.Apparently some punk kid with the handle "n3wbie81 had been found dead. There hadn't been an autopsy yet, but examinations at the scene revealed no visible cause of death. The woman who had found the body - some housekeeper, or a neighbour, or something, mentioned something about there being a private message on the screen from a forum called 1emulation.com, but the damn fool had closed the browser and turned off the pc. AND the kid had no cache, and didn't allow cookies, so investigators had so far been unable to log in using the kid's username.Blue_Line was convinced that something in that private message had caused n3wbie83's death. But what...he did not know. He only knew one thing for certain...EVERYBODY at 1emulation was a suspect. * * *Blue_Line opened up his browser, typed in 1emulation.com and started entered the forums. Good, he thought, and open forum. He liked cases where he could lurk around the scene of the crime for a while unnoticed while business continued as usual. He began reading some of the threads, concentraiting in the ones where n3wbie81 had posted. Hmm...this kid seemed to have pissed off alot of people. After reading those posts, he expanded to the posts of the usernames that got his attention. He began to have his suspicions about the forum's administrator, Gamecop. Considering the stringent rules the forum had, and the sheer number of rules the victim seemed to have broken, he began to expect that most powerful emotions, righteous anger. Of course, every administrator had the potential to have THAT motive. But then again, perhaps the sheer number of his posts had also pissed off forum frontrunners Agozer and Gryphonklaw? n3wbie83's post count had been fast approaching theirs before he was killed. Perhaps they were so desperate to keep their "rank" as the top two posters that they would go to any means necessary to keep that rank? The n3wb had pissed off other people for different reasons as well. Even Blue_Line, who sometimes joked that he had visited half the forums on the internet, was amazed at the sheer volume of venomous replies members Cominus and Fatal Rose had posted in a thread n3wbie81 had started entitled "My Erotic Dream about Ross from Friends". The fact that n3wbie81 had the phrase "VF4 Suxxors" in size 20 font under his sig only seemed to add fuel to the fire in Fatal Rose's case. And then there was 666Ghost. Something about that guy creeped Blue_Line out. Maybe it was the nick, or the scary sig, or maybe it was the way He Capitalised Every Word He Typed, but although he could not find any direct encounters n3wbie81 had had with 666Ghost, something told him he shouldn't rule him off his list of suspects just yet... To Be Continued....
